The Global Coordination Project (GCP) of the Ecosystem Restoration Integrated Program (ERIP) was officially launched in September 2025, with an inception workshop hosted by Conservation International in Arlington, Virginia. Led by Conservation International, the GCP plays a central role in aligning country-led restoration efforts with ERIP’s global goals.

It provides technical guidance, fosters collaboration, and ensures consistent progress tracking across the program.

Inception Workshop Highlights

The three-day workshop brought together 113 participants in a hybrid format, including representatives from the GEF Secretariat, implementing agencies, country teams, and global partners. The event focused on:

  • Introducing the GCP and its coordination role
  • Aligning stakeholders on ERIP’s shared vision and objectives
  • Presenting the first-year work plan
  • Gathering input on key program components, including: Capacity building, Restoration economy, Private sector engagement, Gender equity, Monitoring and evaluation (M&E), Safeguards, Communications and branding, Knowledge management and learning, and Governance.

Looking Ahead

The workshop also initiated planning for ERIP’s first annual meeting event in 2025, which will bring together all 20 participating countries to share progress, exchange experiences, and strengthen partnerships.

The inception of the GCP marked a foundational step in ERIP’s journey—establishing the coordination structure that will connect local action with global impact.
