Led by Conservation International, ERIP is a six-year, $200 million global initiative under GEF-8.
The program supports the restoration of forests, mangroves, wetlands, peatlands, and grasslands in:
Angola, Brazil, Cambodia, Chad, DR Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Haiti, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Mexico, Mozambique, Nepal, Peru, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
Coordinating Global Action
At the global level, the Global Coordination Project (GCP)—led by Conservation International—is supporting the rollout of country projects. In January, the GCP convened ERIP’s first Steering Committee meeting to set priorities and guide implementation.
To support visibility and engagement, ERIP’s brand and website have been launched. In parallel, new partnerships with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Resources Institute (WRI) are helping to build capacity and strengthen enabling conditions for restoration.
The GCP team is also participating in country inception workshops to ensure strong coordination from the start.
