ERIP Capacity Building Bootcamps 2026

The Ecosystem Restoration Integrated Program (ERIP) Capacity Building Bootcamps are two cohort‑based online programs designed to support ERIP country teams in strengthening skills, tools, and peer learning for ecosystem restoration planning and finance.

The bootcamps bring together professionals from across Africa, Asia, and Latin America to learn, exchange experiences, and apply practical approaches aligned with national and local restoration priorities. In 2026, ERIP offers two distinct bootcamps tailored to different but complementary capacities: Restoration Action Planning Bootcamp and Restoration Finance Bootcamp. Participants may apply to one of the two programs, depending on their role and professional focus.

  • Restoration Action Planning

  • Restoration Finance

About this Training

Both bootcamps are delivered online and combine self‑paced learning with live, interactive workshops. The programs emphasize peer learning across countries, hands‑on use of tools and templates, and practical application to real restoration challenges faced by ERIP country teams.

Participants will join a diverse cohort of practitioners and gain access to curated resources, structured learning pathways, and a professional network that extends beyond the duration of the bootcamps.

Why this Training?

Countries participating in ERIP are advancing ambitious ecosystem restoration goals that require strong planning frameworks and sustainable financing strategies. These bootcamps respond to that need by providing structured, practice‑oriented learning spaces where participants can strengthen technical skills, learn from peers, and translate global guidance into country‑level action. By focusing on both restoration action planning and restoration finance, the bootcamps support complementary capacities that are essential for effective, inclusive, and scalable restoration.

Restoration Action Planning Bootcamp

This bootcamp supports professionals involved in the planning, coordination, and monitoring of ecosystem restoration. It serves up to 100 participants across 20 ERIP countries.

Who should participate?
This bootcamp is designed for practitioners such as:

  • Government planners from environment, agriculture, forestry, and planning ministries
  • GIS specialists or Monitoring and Evaluation officers managing spatial data and monitoring frameworks
  • Policy advisors and legal experts working on restoration frameworks
  • NGO managers with restoration implementation experience
  • Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) specialists supporting equitable restoration
  • Indigenous Peoples’ representatives
  • Community leaders
  • Sub‑national government staff translating national plans into local action

Restoration Finance Bootcamp

This bootcamp focuses on mobilizing, managing, and coordinating finance for ecosystem restoration. It serves up to 400 participants across the 20 ERIP countries.

Who should participate?
This bootcamp is designed for practitioners such as:

  • Finance officers in environment, planning, and finance ministries managing restoration budgets
  • Planning officers in executing agencies developing financing strategies and proposals
  • NGO finance and project officers writing funding proposals and managing project finances
  • Finance consultants and advisors providing technical assistance on financial planning
  • Local government budget experts allocating resources and coordinating financing
  • Enterprise and cooperative managers developing restoration‑based businesses

Team‑based participation encouraged
Where feasible, countries are encouraged to nominate paired participants, including:
- A technical finance or planning focal point, and
- A practitioner voice (e.g. women‑led cooperative, IPLC organization, local enterprise, or sub‑national implementer)

This approach helps ensure that financing solutions reflect on‑the‑ground realities and support inclusive benefits.

How to Take Part

Participation is open to professionals from ERIP countries who meet the profile of each bootcamp. Applicants are encouraged to apply to the program that best fits their role and responsibilities. Selected participants will be notified following the close of the application period.
